I am a native Japanese speaker with over 30 years of experience teaching Japanese in Japan and the UK, including at British secondary schools, Japanese supplementary education, International House London, Cactus Language Training, and Tokyo College of Sushi & Washoku London.

My lessons are personalised, practical and communication-focused. I combine clear explanations of grammar with real-life conversation, with particular attention to natural pronunciation and pitch accent. Japanese culture and authentic everyday language are also an important part of my teaching.

I teach GCSE, A-Level and IB Japanese, JLPT (N5–N1), general and conversational Japanese, and Business Japanese including keigo. Lessons are adapted to each learner’s level, interests and goals, from complete beginners to advanced learners.

I also have experience as a GCSE Japanese Speaking Examiner.
